Delco Interfaith Food Assistance Network - (DIFAN) 610-566-7540 -Family and Community Service is designated by Delaware County as the lead agency with responsibility for administering the County’s government-donated food assistance programs. These programs distribute food to needy individuals and families through a network of food centers in churches and other faith-based organizations, and social service agencies.
As a key element of this effort, Family and Community Service supports the Delco Interfaith Food Assistance Network (DIFAN). DIFAN is comprised of twelve member food centers that collectively provide food assistance to residents of all of Delaware County’s communities.
The twelve DIFAN food centers are: Chester Eastside Ministries, New Jerusalem Church (Chester), St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (Chester), Upper Darby Food Center, First United Methodist Church (Media), Church of the Nazarene (Sharon Hill), Mt. Zion CME Church (Sharon Hill), St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (Broomall), Bernardine Center (Chester), True Vine Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church (Chester), Christ Tabernacle Church (Morton), and Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry (Prospect Park).
In the last year, Family and Community Service’s food assistance programs provided services to 7,076 households which included 8,577 adults, 6,603 children and 1,897 elderly persons. In the same period, the DIFAN food centers alone distributed 1.1 million meals
